South of the Edwards Escarpment where I live, the coastal plains begin, created during millions of years of erosion from the higher ground extending up to the Llano Uplift. These flat plains have better soil which produce the thickest fields and variety of wildflowers. They begin there and begin to spread north almost to Dallas. The following pictures represent this year's wave of Bluebonnets, which are just now covering San Antonio, and have spread thinly up to Blanco. They were made between Floresville and La Vernia.
